The British Youth Council are asking young people between the ages of 11 and 25 to share their opinions on what makes voting easier.
Why are we conducting this survey?
Young people are at the heart of everything we do, and the Votes at 16 campaign is no exception – this campaign is for young people by young people. The more of us who make ourselves heard, the louder the noise will be, and the stronger our call for change.
The results from this survey will go directly on to form the basis of our Votes at 16 Manifesto.
Why do we believe in lowering the voting age?
Over 1.5 million 16 and 17 year old’s in the UK are currently being denied the voting age.
Some 16 and 17 year olds can vote in some elections in Scotland and Wales, but are denied the same rights in England and Northern Ireland. This inequality cannot continue.
We believe that 16 and 17 year old’s today are ready to be empowered with this system.
Did you know?
- 16 and 17 year old’s in the Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Brazil and Austria are able to vote.
- Some elections in Germany, Malta and Norway give 16 and 17 year old’s the opportunity to vote.
Take our survey today and ensure your voice counts!
