Members of the Youth Parliament from across the UK have come together annually to take part in workshops, debate, create and change national manifesto policy, and network. It takes place on a university campus over three days. The event includes special guest speakers on issues that young people have identified as important, these are usually followed by question and answer sessions. Past speakers have included:

  • John Bercow MP, Speaker of the House of Commons

  • Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury (2000–2002)

  • Iby Knell, A Holocaust Survivor

  • Tim Loughton, Parliamentary Under Secretary for Children & Families (2010-2012)

Who can attend?

This event is only open to Members of Youth Parliament and their support worker(s). If an Members of Youth Parliament is unable to attend, then he/she may nominate a youth representative to deputise in their place.

Members of Youth Parliament will gather for its 22nd Annual Conference at the University of Hull from Friday 22nd July 2022 until Sunday 24th July 2022.

2021

Members of Youth Parliament from across the UK met virtually in September 2021 due to the continued global pandemic.

2020

For the first time in history, due to the covid-19 global pandemic, Members of Youth Parliament from across the UK met virtually.

2019

In 2019, Members of Youth Parliament returned to Leeds University from Friday 2nd August 2019 until Sunday 4th August 2019.

2018

From Friday 27th July 2018 until Sunday 29th July 2018, Members of Youth Parliament will meet at the University of Nottingham.

2017

From Friday 28th July 2017 until Sunday 30th July 2017, Members of Youth Parliament gathered at Liverpool Hope University.

2016

Members of Youth Parliament gathered at the University of York on Friday 22nd July 2016 until Sunday 24th July 2016.

2015

UK Youth Parliament's 15th Annual Sitting took place on Friday 31st July 2015 to Sunday 2nd August 2015 at Exeter University.

2014

Members of Youth Parliament met on Friday 25th July 2014 at Lancaster University.

2013

Members of Youth Parliament met on Friday 26th July 2013 at Leeds University.

2012

Members of Youth Parliament came together on Friday, 27 July 2012 at the University of Nottingham.

2011

Members of Youth Parliament went to Leeds University on Friday, 22 July 2011.

2022

Members of Youth Parliament met on Friday 22nd July 2022 to Sunday 24th July 2022 at Hull University.

2010

Members of Youth Parliament descended on Ulster University on Friday 23rd July 2010, marking the 1st time in the event's history to be held off the mainland of Britain.

2009

Members of Youth Parliament gathered at University of Kent from Friday 24 July 2009.

2008

Members of Youth Parliament travelled to University of Exeter from Monday 19th July 2008.

2007

Members of Youth Parliament met for their inaugural sitting at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland.
