We want our Parliament to:

Do more to achieve zero net emissions and tackle climate change.

Our Vision:

We believe that the Government must do more to ensure the UK achieves the zero net emissions in a timely way. We believe that more needs to be done to raise awareness of our individual and collective responsibility in addressing climate change; education for sustainable development must be embedded in the curriculum and large companies should have a greater level of accountability in sharing what they are doing to help reach the targets. We also urge the Government to ensure it’s approach is of reaching the zero net emissions target is inclusive, taking into account the economic impact on people and the potential impact on people whose lives depend on the use of plastic.

Key Facts:

The transport sector accounts for a third of all Carbon Emissions in the UK - this is the largest contributor. (2018 UK Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Provisional Figures, 2018)

Only 10% of companies have set a carbon reduction target – none of which is science-based (Carbon Commitment Report, Carbon Credentials, 2018)

79% of the public were unaware of Clean Growth. (BEIS Public Attitude Survey, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), 2019 (June, Wave 30) ) Clean Growth is the UK Government’s strategy for decarbonising all sectors of the UK. It explains how the whole country can benefit from low-carbon opportunities, while meeting national and international commitments to tackle climate change.
