GET INVOLVED, BE INSPIRED, MEET NEW FRIENDS!
Do you want to make a real difference to your life and the lives of other young people around you?
Who are BYC Campaigners and what do they do?
Our BYC Campaigners are young, trained and motivated volunteers from diverse backgrounds from all over England. They play a key role in BYC activities by giving up an hour a week to raise awareness, plan and run our Campaigns, consult young people about the issues that are improtant to them and help out at our events.
What do I get out of being a BYC Campaigner?
Not only is it a brilliant opportunity to make a difference, you'll also make lots of new friends, get a free Young Person’s Railcard, a free T-Shirt and have the opportunity to gain the Silver UK Youth Achievement Award which will look great on your CV! We cover all your travel, food and accommodation expenses when you attend one of our many events, and you will also get help with childcare costs if you need it.
What skills do I need to become a BYC Campaigner?
We are not looking for any previous experience in campaigning or volunteering. However, it will help if you can talk to a range of different people, can keep your campaign work organised, are creative and you enjoy the challenge of meeting deadlines.
Where and when do I have to volunteer?
This opportunity only requires a commitment of an hour a week for 4 months, or more if you want. It is fully flexible and, best of all, virtual so everything is based in your local community, school or university or youth club.
So, if you are 16-25, live in England and want to get involved in campaigning about the issues that really do matter to you and other young people in England, then this opportunity is for you!
We also have an online option which is open to anyone who is 26 and under and lives anywhere in the UK then our Online Action Team could be for you?
Check the Videos tab to see one of our BYC Campaigner induction days.
How do I become a BYC Campaigner?
To register download the registration form and email it to volunteers@byc.org.uk or post it to Cathryn Langdon, Programmes Officer, at our London Bridge address. You’ll then get invited to attend one of our Induction Days to find out more about what we do, what campaigns you can get involved in, take part in workshops and to sign up for the issues which really interest and affect you.
WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT RECRUITING ANY NEW BYC CAMPAIGNERS, WHILE WE DECIDE ON THE FUTURE DIRECTION OF OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME. HOWEVER, IF YOU'D LIKE TO GET INVOLVED IN CAMPAIGNING WITH BYC, YOU CAN SIGN UP TO BE PART OF OUR ONLINE ACTION NETWORK AND WE'LL KEEP YOU POSTED ON NEW OPPORTUNITIES AS THEY COME UP.
