Global Changemakers, Middle East and North Africa (MENA)


BYC is the UK partner of the British Council's Global Changemakers Middle East project. The aims of the project are:

  • To develop greater understanding between young people in the UK and in the Arab region through inter-cultural dialogue and shared action
  • To support shared youth-led action projects and campaigns between UK young people and young people from countries in the Arab region
  • To empower young people in the UK to raise awareness and influence debates about the Arab region
  • To build a digital platform to facilitate dialogue and action

There have been over 25 online dialogues so far and the UK participants are now starting to develop mini-projects around the themes of the dialogues.


Active Citizens


The British Youth Council is one of the founding partners of the British Council's Active Citizens programme. Active Citizens is a huge global programme which has so far involved over 30,000 young people around the world and BYC continues to be active in training young facilitators to take the lead in spreading the programme further.
