Fresh from the country's first election for over 40 years - and proudly displaying stained black fingers to show it - a group of 10 young Libyans arrived in London to join BYC for a week-long visit to explore different models of youth organisations.

As part of a packed programme we shared experiences from BYC and the UK Youth Parliament, visited Lewisham's Young Mayor and Young Advisors, discussed non-formal approaches over home cooked food at Refugee Youth, took part in leadership workshops with Uprising and Dare2Lead; looked at ideas for student organisation with NUS and met young campaigners at Beckton Globe.

James Edleston, Head of International at BYC said:

"It was a fascinating week for all of us involved, but it was the spirit and commitment of the Libyan group that left the greatest impression. The group shared stories of the country's recent past, which was sad, harrowing, complex and hopeful; but they also inspired us with their passion and total dedication for a better future."

We'll be sharing more information about the visit soon.
