Liam Preston (BYC Chair) discusses the British Youth Council's Annual Council Meeting as an opportunity for youth council's, young mayors and UK youth parliaments to come together to discuss and debate all the issues that they think are most important to young people in the UK:

 

Nearly 150 delegates from across the UK again voted for British Youth Council (BYC) old favourite Votes at 16 as its no 1 campaign. The continuation of the Votes at 16 campaign highlights the continued sense of disenfranchisement amongst the under 18's in UK democracy. This was followed by locally popular Safe and Affordable Public Transport for children and young people, an issue increasingly symptomatic of the impact of rising prices on young people. Finally, End Poverty in our communities for children and young people was chosen, indicating that young people are very aware of the plight of their peers who are less well off in their communities. These last two featured in BYC's Election Manifesto campaign in 2010.
