Board of Trustees Vacancy

Vice Chair of Participation and Development

Reopen nominations for applications from new candidates

Closing Date Friday 6th July - midday.

The British Youth Council (BYC) is looking for passionate advocates of our vision of world where all young people are respected and able to influence and inform decisions that affect their lives, or on which they have strong opinions.

We are looking for people aged 16-25 to apply to become a trustee of BYC in the role of Vice Chair of Participation and Development.

BYC is led by young people for young people. Our board of trustees is made up of 13 people aged 16-25. The board set the strategic direction of the organisation, shape our activities, and act as ambassadors and spokespeople for BYC in the media and elsewhere.

The Vice-Chair Participation and Development is the Board's lead champion on empowering young people internally and externally and looking at ways to further develop BYC's work

The Vice-Chair Participation and Development is responsible for:

  • leading on BYC's participation and development activities (including membership)
  • liaising where appropriate with the Chief Executive
  • deputising for the Chair as required

The role is however not operational and will be supported by staff.

Being a trustee is a fantastic way to build your experience and networks; develop a broad range of skills; and help shape the future of a world where all young people have a say and are heard.

We've put together this pack containing more information. Why not take a look?

If you decide becoming a trustee is for you, you'll also need to fill out this Application Form, our Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form and the BYC Trustee Application Reference Form.

Please note this is open to new applicants only.
