Five inspiring projects, organisations and individuals have been recognised for innovative youth participation in the third round of the British Youth Council's Youth on Board Awards, bringing the total number of Awards this year to an amazing 61!

The Youth on Board (YOB) Awards recognise innovative youth participation. Winners in this round include the Seaford Musical Theatre Juniors who are the only volunteer run charity group of its kind in a wide area and offer performance based musical theatre opportunities for young people aged 8-17 and Right Here Brighton and Hove which is a project led by young people aged 16-25 that aims to promote the mental and emotional well being of young people in their city.

The awards also recognised the achievement of individual young people including Faizal Akindele for his contribution to the Thurrock Youth Cabinet.

The young people on the British Youth Council's board of trustees judge the entries, and reward youth participation and innovation in one of four categories.

Rosina St James, Vice Chair of Participation & Development at the British Youth Council said:

"The Youth on Board awards demonstrate just how motivated and inspiring young people can be. It's great to see so many people getting involved with local projects and making a difference to the lives of those in the area. We want to recognise the achievements of exceptional individuals, and show that young people play such an important role in their communities"

The closing date for the next round of Youth on Board Award nominations is 25 November 2012. Find out how to apply here.
