Be a part
of something. Give young people a voice. Gain skills to get you
into work, further education or training.
Are you 16
-19 and not in education, training, or employment? Do you want to
experience what it is like to work in a dynamic office? Do you want
to help change things for the better?
Become a British Youth Council Volunteer and learn what
it takes to work in politics. You could be representing young
people across the nation through campaigning, researching and
carrying out communications and administration
work.
YOU
WILL GET:
An insight
into the world of work - develop your confidence, work with and
learn from professionals.
Experience
of assisting with event managing, dealing with finance and admin,
developing policies, creating campaigns.
A level 2
qualification in Employability and Personal Development.
Up to £40
per week expenses paid (additional funds for child care, disability
travel is available).
If you are
already in receipt of benefits this will not be
affected.
A chance to
apply for a Personal Development Grant of £250 to help you with
your next steps.
YOU
WILL GIVE:
Your time -
24 hours per week (4 days) for 24 weeks, starting January
2012.
Bags of
enthusiasm and hard work.
Willingness
to learn and apply yourself to new challenges.
Your unique
perspective and creativity.
YOU
WILL BE:
Aged 16-19
years.
Not
currently in employment, education or training.
Passionate
about making a difference and influencing decisions on issues that
affect young people.
Educated to
Level 1 (GSCE's).
Plus at
least one of the following:
- A lone
parent
- A young
carer
- In care
or care leaver
-
Ex-offender
- Have a
disability
- A
refugee
-
Homeless/or experienced homelessness
- Don't
