Set up a local youth council

What exactly is a Youth Council?

A Local Youth Council is a democratic organisation created, run and developed by young people for young people.

What do Youth Councils do?

They exist to represent the views of young people at a local level giving young people the opportunity to have a voice, to discuss relevant issues, engage with decision-makers and contribute to improving the lives of young people within their community.

BYC has a variety of different ways to help Local Youth Councils

Setting up a Local Youth Council:

We offer support and advice to people looking to set up a Local Youth Council. Give us a call on 020 7785 6460 or email LYC@byc.org.uk.

Developing your Youth Council:

If you are looking for some advice or want to talk through an issue or problem you may be facing then give us a call on 020 7785 6460 or email LYC@byc.org.uk.

We run a range of events throughout the year to support Local Youth Councils, from delivering training courses right through to our annual BYC Convention. To find out what is going on and where check out our events listings.

We also provide in house training for Local Youth Councils. Please see our training pages to look what training we provide or how you can ask us to design a course just for you.
