Write to your MP today and ask them to make ending child poverty by 2020 their New Year's Resolution.

Tell your MP how unfair and unacceptable it is for children to live in poverty by taking part in our campaign action. We want MP's to sign up to say "I resolve to make sure Parliament keeps its promise to end child poverty by 2020".

Download our letter here, and fill it in to get your voice heard.

Make sure you add in how many children live in poverty live in your local area. You can find this fact here (data provided by Child Poverty Action Group).

You can see a Child Poverty Map of the UK here.

From 10 January - as MPs go back to Parliament and begin their work for 2012 -we want their priority to be keeping the promise to end child poverty by 2020 (as promised by law in 2010's Child Poverty Act). With only 8 years left to keep this promise, the Government are currently on course to miss this target by a wide mark.

Three out of ten children in the UK, 3.8 million, still live in poverty (meaning their family earns less than 60% of the 'normal' national income). These children aren't simply going without luxuries - they are growing up being denied good health, education and housing.

You can send this letter by email or post. Make sure you let us know that you've taken action by emailing campaigns@byc.org.uk, posting on our Facebook or tweeting us. You can find out who your MP is, using just your postcode here. If you'd like us to send you copies of the letter to fill in please let us know.
