Represent the UK: Young AmbassadorsPrint

What is the Young UK Ambassadors Project?
The Young UK Ambassadors project aims to make international youth representation more inclusive and effective and is a new partnership project between five leading youth organisations from all the nations of the United Kingdom. We have already had a big impact on the development of youth policy in Europe and have supported young people’s participation at the Commonwealth and other major international forums This year is the UN Year of Youth and we want to build on our successes and make the most of the exciting opportunities coming up. Recruitment to be a Young Ambassador for 2010 - 2011 has now closed.
UK Young Ambassadors - our new website will be launching soon
Why UK Ambassadors?
• Young people have a right to have a say on the issues they care about and decisions that affect them
• Decisions that affect young people in the UK are made at meetings and forums all over the World - in Europe, at the UN, etc
• Young people should be represented at these forums and influence decisions, policies and actions
What are Young UK Ambassadors?
Young Ambassadors ensure the views and concerns of young people are heard at the highest level on the most pressing issues. They:
• Gather the views of young people through consultations, research and discussions, and working through local networks in the UK
• Work to make sure these views are represented at international events and forums
• Have the chance to represent the UK by participating in an international forum or event and engage with policy-makers
• Build their skills in communications, research and advocacy
• Be part of a growing network determined to bring about positive change for young people
Check out the Facebook group for updates and news.
The Young UK Ambassadors project is a partnership of the British Youth Council, Funky Dragon, Northern Ireland Youth Forum, Scottish Youth Parliament and UK Youth Parliament.
